Create an executive response team early in your quest to build stronger IR and DR. They will make key decisions in the midst of crisis, such as whether or not to notify, report, pay ransom, etc.

Incident response and disaster recovery plans are staples in any organization, but there's a key requirement during both an incident or disaster scenario that can be addressed early on with little effort.

Consider possible scenario's that may lead to business decision-making, such as ransomware, regulatory issues, and more. Carefully construct a team on paper that has the authority to make decisions on behalf of the business and notify each member of their responsibility.

In the event of an incident, an ad-hoc meeting request to an executive response team call should be taken with great seriousness and this group will be able to hear the facts, determine the impact, and make key decisions on reporting, notifications, PR communications and more.
